MY STORY
I graduated from UT Knoxville with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and from Carson Newman College with a Master's Degree in School Counseling. I have been a School Counselor in the Cocke County School System since December 2006. I have worked as a school counselor in both the high school and elementary setting. |

Comprehensive School Counseling Program
The program strives to be preventative and proactive; it encourages students, staff, and community to appreciate the contributions, rights, and responsibilities of themselves and others.
Mission Statement:
The mission of Smoky Mountain Counseling Department is to provide a proactive, holistic, developmentally appropriate program to assist all students in their quest to become productive citizens and responsible, lifelong learners through their academic development, personal and social growth and career exploration.
Vision Statement:
The School Counseling Program will help provide an atmosphere of security, warmth, and encouragement as Smoky Mountain students work to reach their fullest educational potential in the areas of academic, career, and personal development. The School Counseling Program will also help to establish a solid foundation as students successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, and productive citizens, friends and leaders.
Beliefs:
All students can learn and achieve when encouraged and nurtured in a respectful environment.
The school counseling program will promote the following: an understanding of respect of self and others; problem-solving, character development, and decision-making; emotional-management skills; skills for learning; and the influence of academic habits on career success.
All students will have access to high quality school counseling services, provided by a full-time licensed, professional School Counselor.
Fostering a positive self-image is the collaborative effort of the school, home, and community and leads to academic success and responsible and productive citizenship.
The School Counselor's role is to provide a data driven, developmental counseling program to meet the needs of all students through a counseling curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and system support.
